Brass Band Annual Dues & Instrument Rental CostsOur band does not earn much revenue. We therefore have to charge a very modest fee every year for membership. It helps cover the cost of renting our rehearsal facility and music purchases. In addition, if you are using a band instrument, you must pay a one time rental deposit and an instrument maintenance fee of $25.00 per year. Again, the cost is very modest because the band has saved money over the years and used it already to acquire music and instruments. Annual Band DuesAnnual dues for band membership is set by decision of the members at a general meeting and confirmed by the board. Currently the annual fee is $75.00 for adults. The fee for students and seniors is $50. Dues are payable 1/2 in September and 1/2 in January but it helps our treasurer if you can pay it all at once in September. If you do not pay the entire dues up front in September, we require a post dated cheque for the January dues. Instrument Rental | LoanerMembers are expected to play brass band rather than concert band instruments. As an example, that means that we use cornets rather than trumpets. Instruments may be loaned from the Band with a requirement for a $50 refundable security deposit as well as a $25 annual fee for maintenance and repair. You must sign a loan agreement and take good care of the instrument and case. (See the "Forms" link to the left and then the 'Instrument Loan Agreement', and 'Care of Instruments' forms.) The deposit can be returned when the Instrument Manager receives the instrument back and determines that no damage has occurred. You Must Insure Your Band InstrumentPlease verify that your home insurance policy covers loss or damage to any instrument belonging to the band. The band does not carry a policy nor would it be fair to expect the band to cover the cost of an instrument loss if it is lost or damaged while in your care.
