Saskatoon Brass Band

Clinic with Robert Gibson

Quance Theatre - Education Building, University of Saskatchewan

    This clinic will be led by Robert Gibson of Prince Albert. Robert is skilled as a musician, conductor, arranger and singer. Our band will accompany him singing on some traditional pieces arranged by him.

    10:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon
    1:30 - 3:00 p.m.
    3:30 - 5:00 p.m.

    Music Stands are in the building so you don't need to bring one. Parking in F Lot.

    Band Members: Robert Gibson comes from the Lake District in the north of England. His early studies in music included piano, voice, and several wind instruments. He served as a military musician in the band of the Border Regiment in both England and Germany and, while in Germany, studied with Horst Hergut, former trombonist with the Berlin Philharmonic and the Charlottenburg Opera House.

    After military service, he was employed at Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering in his hometown of Barrow-in-Furness and played principal trombone in the Vickers band and the Darlington and Westmoreland symphony orchestras. He was a member of various choral societies in England and directed bands for the Lancashire Department of Education. He holds the Associate Diploma in trombone from Victoria.
